Starting her career in Ukraine, Maksiuta switched to compete for Israel a few years ago (late 2007 if I recall correctly?). And personally, I think she has gone from strength to strength as a result. I'm getting a head start this year on the 12 Days of Gymnastics. I should have mentioned that in the first place, sorry for the confusion. I arrive back home in beautiful and hopefully sunny Australia late on Christmas Day, where my family will celebrate a late Christmas on Boxing Day! Then it's off camping to see in the New Year. So here's the belated post number one... On the First Day of Christmas, Gymnastics Brought to Me: A Guatemalan Up and Comer Making Her Senior Debut. Japanese Junior National team member Jumpei Oka took out the Elite Men's All Around title at the 2011 Valeri Liukin Invitational, as well as winning both the Floor Exercise and Horizontal Bar honours. United States Gymnastics Development Center's Jesse Silverstein came second in the All Around tying with USOTC's John Orozco (who has excitingly announced he is going Pro!!!). The 2011 Valeri Liukin Invitational will be held this weekend from December 9th to the 11th inclusive. The competition sees Men's Artistic Gymnasts of Level 4 through to International Elites, take to the floor at WOGA's Frisco gym. World Championship team member John Orozco is set to compete as too is Chris Brooks who was the alternate at this year's World Championships.
